As a blogger or website publisher, you have probably heard about the importance of content. You need articles for your weekly newsletter, content for your website or blog to keep it fresh, and even more articles if you’re selling your own ebooks. Yikes! Now, before you break into a sweat, there are ways to get all of the content that you could possibly need — without sitting on your bottom for 12 hours each day, typing your little fingers off.
Why do you need content? There are a few reasons.
First, search engines love content. The more quality pages that you have on your website, the better. Google eats it up, so keep adding more “real estate” to your website by adding pages of great content.
Second, great content adds value to those who come to your website. When people come to a website that offers a lot of value, they’re much more likely to tell others about it, link to the site themselves, talk about it on forums, twitter about it, and come back frequently to see what’s new.
Third, providing quality content establishes you as an expert in whatever your chosen field is. The more value you provide to readers, the more they begin to look at you as their information source. You’ll start receiving requests for interview and joint ventures as your arsenal of information grows. You’re reading this article right now, right? Hopefully you’ll remember me as an expert in content.
So, where do you get articles for your site? Well, you have several options, each with its pros and cons.
1. Write the content yourself. This is a wonderful option for some of your content. You can choose to write some of it yourself. However, there are options below that will enable you to attract quality content to your website without having to write all of it yourself. (Some you can just edit and use.) Using a mixture of the options will provide you with more flexibility to grow without feeling trapped to your laptop all day.
2. Find a Ghostwriter. Go on the lookout at places like elance.com and Shelancers.com for a skilled ghostwriter that you can get onboard. Once you find that person who can write like the wind, sound just like you, and rely on — give her a raise and quickly! Seriously, though, it is important to test any new writer on a small project before giving him or her a large one. Many of the top marketers rely heavily on their ghostwriters. The President relies on his speech writers. It’s not a bad thing to get a little help with your writing needs. Plus, you can always edit your articles to sound more like you before anyone else ever sees them.
3. Team up. Either through networking or word of mouth, find other online business owners who would like to become featured columnists for your website. If they are in a non-competing but related business, you can both benefit from this type of partnership. Your buddy will get free advertising and exposure and you’ll receive unique content.
4. Check out the Article Directories. Popular article directories like Isnare.com, EzineArticles.com and FreeAffiliateArticles.com offer a variety of informative articles written by respected experts in a variety of fields. You may reprint these articles on your website as long as you include the author bio that is included at the end. See the bottom of this article for an example — mine.
5. Buy PLR articles. PLR stands for Private Label Rights and it is content that you can edit freely, add your name to it, and publish it on your website or in your ezine without having to link back to anyone. The only thing with PLR is that you have to be careful to find a reputable PLR site that is offering quality content that has been professionally written and edited. If the content is sold in limited quantities, even better. Beware of fly-by-night PLR service. Try to find one that has been around for awhile and has an owner who stands by it. PLR content is affordable and flexible — two things that a busy internet marketer need for their business.
Well, that’s a quick intro to getting content for your site. I hope it gives you some ideas to help you build a booming internet business. My wish for you is to work smarter, not harder — and watch your online business grow!
