The first thing an outdoor wedding company needs is a website for an Internet presence so that they might reach those potential customers that only do business online.  More and more people are turning to the Internet to search for what they want and need than any other media combined, this includes the local phone book, newspapers, magazines, television and radio.

 

A website needs to do more than announce the hours of operation and show a map of the location.  A wedding destination company needs to have keyword rich articles on their website in order to inform potential customers of how their business works, what they could expect from a destination wedding, price lists for various package weddings and other items that would be included in destination weddings such as wine from the local winery, a local catering company that specializes in unique wedding and a bakery that also creates the perfect wedding cakes that fits the couple’s unique personality.  Another feature on a destination wedding website could include what is available at the gift shop besides T-shirts, postcards, tanning lotions and cameras.  A destination wedding could also make more money by offering custom-made products with the wedding couple’s picture or the date imprinted on them.

 

A keyword rich article uses keywords and keyword phrases which are the words potential customers use in the search boxes on the search engines in order to find what they need or want.  For example, if a bride to be is searching for a destination wedding at a unique themed place, she might put in the search box the phrase ‘castle weddings’ at which time the search engines would bring back a list of places and their websites that offer castle weddings.  In order for a centuries old castle that offers weddings to be among that list, they need to participate in search engine optimization or SEO.  Search engine optimization is placing keyword rich articles on a website in order to attract the three major search engines – MSN, Yahoo!, and Google.  These major search engines send out their “feelers” to find the keywords and keyword phrases and then rank the websites according to a special formula.

 

Having a high ranking on the search engine webpages is important to a business because the same type of business is also vying for a top spot on the search engine webpages and the majority of people who use search engines make their choice from the top 10 websites brought back from the search engines.
