Distracted Drivers Need Solar Powered Stop Signs to help Guide the Way

It’s estimated that distracted drivers, which includes a growing number of drivers under the influence of drugs and alcohol, drivers listening to the radio, eating or talking on a cell phone, cause approximately 90 percent of all automobile accidents on the roads today.  One recent research project concluded that drowsy drivers cause up to 70,000 of injury crashes per year of which 1,550 are fatal.

Solar powered traffic signs are popping up all over the country because cities and towns know that they will help in the battle against distracted drivers. The solar powered signs contain LED flashing lights that continually flash so that a driver will see them and heed the warning on the sign. Each solar powered sign has a small series of solar panels attached to the top so it can collect the sun’s ultraviolet rays and transmit them into energy to operate the flashing lights. There is no need for long electrical cords or costly generators. Everything is self-contained in the solar powered signs and will help save energy, money and lives.

In addition to solar powered street and traffic signs, there are solar powered signs for construction companies and work areas that will help to keep jobsites safe and accident-free. Since the signs are powered by the sun, there is no need for long electrical cords to hinder traffic driving by or pedestrians walking by and the signs will help keep the grounds alerted to what is going on such as using hazardous gases and other materials, overhead power lines and truck leaving and entering the area.

Solar powered traffic signs and solar powered construction zone signs save lives in addition to saving energy which ultimately saves a company and city money. These signs will be a good idea in many areas of a city or town and a demonstration could be held for the city council or planning committee to show them how to work without using electricity.
